Is it time for a basement renovation?

What is your basement’s ESP (extra space potential)? Answer just two questions to find out…

A.  Is your basement currently:

  1. The storage area
  2. The laundry and/or workshop
  3. That space at the bottom of the stairs you avoid at all costs
  4. All of the above?

B.  What extra space do you need in your home?

  1. Storage
  2. Entertainment
  3. Gym
  4. Guest or income suite

If you answered any or all of the above then it’s probably time to undertake a basement renovation. You’ll be amazed at how much potential that wasted real estate actually has. However you need to determine what would be the most functional basement remodel to meet some or even all of your needs.

On House & Home’s online TV channel you’ll find plenty of videos that will inspire you to make the most of your basement space. For example (click on the images to view):

This basement needed to be transformed from a basic play area for the kids to an entertainment area to suit the entire family with lots of storage space.

Here’s another family-friendly basement renovation that created more light and more space.

HGTV’s Scott McGillivray believes that converting your basement into an income suite offers the greatest return on investment – and he should know, as the host of “Income Property” Scott is also a successful real estate investor. Here’s a link to one of his episodes.
